The Engagement
Your judgement deserves a chief of staff.
A twelve-month, private clinical performance engagement for people whose decisions carry significant consequences.
Twelve months. One individual. Sustained clinical attention.
Decision Athlete brings physiology, cognition and behaviour into one continuous investigation. We measure the individual, interpret the findings in context, and use that understanding to guide behavioural change and assess its effects over time.
The objective is to understand what influences your capacity to make consequential decisions — and what can be done to improve it.
The individual is the investigation.
No two people begin in the same place. Their physiology, cognitive performance, circumstances and constraints differ. The same intervention can produce different results in different people.
That is why Decision Athlete does not begin with a standard performance programme and fit the individual around it.
We establish a baseline across physiology and cognition. We monitor the patterns that emerge over time. We identify potential constraints, determine where intervention may be useful, and assess how you respond.
The work evolves as we learn more about you.
Measurements provide the evidence. Clinical interpretation determines what it means. The individual's response informs what happens next.
Measure. Monitor. Manage.
01 — Measure
Establish a meaningful baseline.
The engagement begins with a broad assessment of your physiology and cognition. The aim is to establish a reference point, identify potential constraints and understand which areas warrant closer attention.
The assessment includes comprehensive blood testing, genetic testing, a standardised cognitive assessment, and measurements of cardiovascular health, sleep and body composition.
These are not isolated tests to be collected and filed away. They provide different perspectives on the same individual and help establish the starting point for the work.
02 — Monitor
Understand what happens over time.
A baseline is a starting point, not a complete explanation.
Ongoing monitoring helps us understand how your physiology and behaviour change, distinguish longer-term patterns from individual readings, and examine whether changes are occurring in areas relevant to your performance.
Wearable data and at-home measurements contribute to this picture. They are interpreted alongside the wider assessment and the context of your life, rather than treated as answers in themselves.
The purpose is not to collect as much data as possible. It is to identify the information that helps us understand you better.
03 — Manage
Turn understanding into action.
Measurement has limited value unless it informs what happens next.
We use the findings to identify priorities and develop behavioural interventions appropriate to your circumstances. We then monitor your response, reassess where useful and refine the approach.
The objective is not adherence to a fixed protocol. It is to discover which changes are useful for you, understand their effects and build on what the evidence supports.
Measure, Monitor and Manage are not separate services. They are connected parts of one continuing engagement.
A connected picture of performance
Physiology
Blood testing provides a broad view of relevant physiological markers. Additional measures of sleep, cardiovascular function, blood pressure and body composition help build a more complete picture.
Genetic information can contribute context about predispositions, but it does not determine an individual's outcomes. Findings must be interpreted alongside observed physiology, behaviour and the wider clinical picture.
Cognition
A standardised cognitive assessment establishes a baseline and is repeated over the course of the engagement.
Repeated assessment allows us to examine changes in cognitive performance over time. The results are considered alongside physiological measurements and the circumstances in which the assessments take place.
Cognition is central to the work: it is the link between the state of the individual and the quality of the decisions they are equipped to make.
Behaviour
Sleep, nutrition, physical activity and recovery influence physiology and form part of the practical work of the engagement.
We identify the behavioural changes most relevant to the individual, monitor their implementation and examine the response. The aim is not to impose a universal lifestyle prescription, but to make informed changes and learn from their effects.
These three areas are not independent workstreams. Their value lies in how they are interpreted together.
One person holding the entire picture.
The value of measurement depends on the quality of the interpretation.
Decision Athlete is built around a direct clinical relationship with Dermot Rock. Your assessments, ongoing measurements, reports and behavioural interventions are considered as parts of one evolving picture.
You are not handed between disconnected specialists or expected to interpret a dashboard yourself. The purpose of the monitoring is to inform the work, not to create another set of numbers for you to manage.
The engagement includes regular one-to-one video consultations, written reporting ahead of those consultations, ongoing review of available monitoring data, and the equipment and professional support required for the agreed programme.
The emphasis is on continuity: someone who understands the wider context, recognises changes over time and can help determine what deserves attention.
Twelve months of investigation
The engagement is designed to give measurement, intervention and reassessment enough time to inform one another.
Establish the baseline.
Complete the initial assessments and establish a reference point for physiology and cognition.
Identify priorities.
Interpret the findings together and determine which constraints or opportunities warrant attention.
Intervene and observe.
Introduce relevant behavioural changes and monitor the response in the context of the individual's circumstances.
Reassess and refine.
Repeat appropriate assessments, review progress and adapt the approach as the picture develops.
This is a continuing process, not a predetermined sequence of interventions. The precise priorities and actions depend on the individual and on what the evidence reveals over the course of the engagement.
What is included
The twelve-month fee covers the clinical engagement and the resources required to deliver it.
Comprehensive baseline assessment of physiology and cognition.
Extensive blood testing and interpretation.
Genetic testing and interpretation in context.
Standardised cognitive assessment and repeat testing.
Ongoing physiological monitoring using appropriate wearable and at-home measurement equipment.
Review of relevant data and changes over time.
Individualised behavioural interventions and ongoing refinement.
Regular one-to-one video consultations.
Written reports prepared ahead of consultations.
The testing equipment and professional support included in the agreed programme.
The specific assessment and monitoring plan is guided by the individual's needs. Additional investigations may be considered where appropriate, rather than applied automatically to every client.
Is this right for you?
Decision Athlete is designed for founders, investors and other high-consequence decision-makers who take their performance seriously and are willing to investigate it with intellectual curiosity and sustained commitment.
The engagement is best suited to people who already recognise the importance of sleep, nutrition, physical activity and recovery, and who are prepared to examine their own behaviour and act on what they learn.
It is not a crisis service, a substitute for necessary medical care, or a programme built around quick fixes. Where an issue requires diagnosis or treatment outside the scope of the engagement, appropriate medical care takes precedence.
The work requires time, attention and a willingness to challenge assumptions — including assumptions about one's own performance.
The investment
$125,000
A twelve-month private engagement, including the testing, monitoring equipment and professional support specified in the programme.
The fee reflects the breadth of the investigation and the sustained, individual clinical attention involved. This is not a subscription to a platform or a package of diagnostic tests. It is a year-long working relationship built around understanding one individual and acting on what the evidence reveals.
